Call centers are here to stay, for a very long time. The recent mergers & acquisitions show that Western companies and the world at large is serious about outsourcing and India.Western companies look at India for setting up BPO operations or outsourcing their work for the very much the same reason that makes India such an excellent base for software services- inexpensive yet highly qualified, English-speaking labor. It all started with relatively simple tasks such as selling credit cards or collecting money from delinquent card users. Today, there is sporadic demand in functions ranging from HR to Accounting encompassing sectors such as insurance wherein one has the authority and responsibility to analyze and take complex decisions involving thousands of dollars.
